SEE YOU THERE
"A battle to the bottom
Sharpen your blades, Red Bull Crashed Ice is back! A combination of hockey, downhill skiing and boardercross, Red Bull Crashed Ice will return to the historic district of Old Quebec on January 24, 2009. But this year, it's bigger and badder."
This is seriously a gigantic ice luge through Quebec City, and people ice skate down it. Oh, it also has jumps and shit. BUCK.

Bleeding Cowboys Sighting: EVERYWHERE (specifically: The Ed Hardy Boyz)
It's getting hard to keep up with the sightings. It has switched from actively pursuing the most ridiculous font ever, to sort of trying to avoid the almighty... Bleeding Cowboys. When is the last time a font has defined a generation? Helvetica? Maybe. Impact? No. I think the only other font that holds this much identity is Comic Sans, and we know where that landed. I hereby declare that anyone using Bleeding Cowboys for any other purpose than parody, is a member of the worst. I denounce you, Bleeding Cowboys.
Oh, Funny or Die used it in a new Bobby Bottleservice short "The Ed Hardy Boyz". I voted funny.

Bleeding Cowboys Sighting : Baker Lowlife Tour / Billabong "Out of the Pond" Video
Came across the font of the century while checking Mike Burnett's blog on Thrasher. One of the shop windows from the Baker/Deathwish Lowlife tour was sporting Bleeding Cowboys, the font in which the only thing you have to adjust is the color, and sometimes not even that. Upon further inspection, It turns out the usage is from a Billabong wakeboard video, go figure. Wakeboarding = Heller tough.

Bleeding Cowboy Sighting: Daughtry Poster
I took this on the Upper East Side. This one is just lazy. Just straight up bleeding cowboys, dudes? You can throw a stroke on that shit or something? But that font does make me say "Daughtry" in a pretty serious drawl.
Also, that guy with the mowhawk looks like he's saying, "oh hey guys! Didn't realize we were getting our picture taken in the clouds here. that's pretty cool."

R.I.P. Michael Jackson
Say what you want about MJ, most of this guy's hits were UNDENIABLE. Straight rippers. I remember one Friday night, I had pink eye and stayed home all night watching a Michael Jackson video marathon, just so I could see Smooth Criminal. That's a totally rad song. Here are some other of his jams that I like too.
The crowd goes absolutely ape-shit over MJ lip-synching.

This is an oldie but a goodie.
I can't wait for Antilogy to start making gold, embossed business cards with pop-out dragons after Jim sees this.
"What do you do, guaranteed?!?" Fucking awesome.

Assemble & Conquer
Hands down our favorite brand ever, RAW, is quickly taking over east coast skateboarding. You seen that shit on the Berrics??? Killing it daily. I'm hoping P.J. bails on Plan B to bring it on home to me. The minds behind Raw, Raw Private Stock, and the Positive Kit just opened their very own flagship store. They explain it better than I could;
"We are proud to officially announce our forthcoming and most important project to date. On May 23, 2009, as another long New England winter finally comes to a close, RAW, RAW Private Stock and The Positive Kit will have a brick and mortar home. At present, we are finalizing the construction and layout of our headquarters, which is located at 1152 Broadway in Somerville, Massachusetts.
The space will appropriately be titled Assemble & Conquer, due to the fact that we are putting all of our efforts under one roof in order to be closer to the progress of our brands. Most importantly, visitors to 1152 Broadway will have the opportunity to view our process firsthand. They will catch glimpses of how simple ideas become final products and, ultimately, how brands are built from the ground up.
Assemble & Conquer will serve as the venue for all of our design. It will be the hub for shipping to our supporters worldwide. Patrons of the space will have direct access to RAW, RAW Private Stock and The Positive Kit, as well as products from a handpicked lineup of brands that we respect. Our inspiration comes from those we’ve read about or met along the way, as well as those who are a part of the family we’ve created. This spring, our worldwide skateboarding family will have a place to assemble. Come through…"

Philip Huller : 12/1/51 - 4/30/09
Last night, at 8:15 pm, my girlfriend's father lost his fight with liver cancer. He, and the rest of his family, are connected with God in a way I envy, and it almost seemed as if after hearing the longtime premonition come true, the illness was terminal, he let go. I was in the room the entire time, and though I don't fear death, I feared the thought of seeing it firsthand. His wife, Eileen, told a nurse the story of how they met, which is something out of a Woody Allen movie. As she told the nurse "I loved him the moment I saw him, and I love him this moment", he stopped breathing, and passed. I will never experience something so surreal for the rest of my life. He was, for lack of a better word, an inspiration to me. Rest In Peace.

Turkey's DONE! (sort of)
I did a project with an early 80's Ross my girlfriend gave me. It was her older brother's from years ago, so I wanted to do it justice. I stripped it, turned it into a single, painted it, and got a bunch of cheap cool guy parts. In the end, it rides like a bicycle again. It was a cool starter project. I need new pedals, seat, wheels, chain, tires. But fuck that shit.

Eric Carle has the best blog in the world.
Today's the 40th anniversary of The Hungry Caterpillar and this has brought attention to Eric Carle, the author. His blog is radical. My favorite line so far?
Yes indeed.

Buzzfeed! You win again!
Buzzfeed has once again showed me my new favorite website. Pornstar Tweet is probably the weirdest thing that has ever existed. I'm still amazed by the whole twitter thing. I mean. I got one and so does like a million people, but for the most part, I don't think anyone cares when someone writes, "Going to JC Penny now." So that's why it's only cool when celebrities do it. ...or porno stars. It's extremely interesting when someone tweets:
and then not an hour later tweets:
It's like your friend's facebook status, except incredibly gross.

Bleeding Cowboy Sighting: Erik Macek
So I was going about looking at people's myspaces when I came across erik macek. Now, I haven't heard his music, but judging by the font his chosen for himself, I'd imagine it sounds like:
1) A shoot-out between some really old looking guys,
2) Someone doing burn-outs on a Harley.
3) Really bland acoustic pop.

You thought we wouldn't notice... and you thought we wouldn't care?
This project on Flikr, titled "Make Something Cool Everyday", is surprisingly similar to little old Mikey's senior thesis, and current portfolio "Be Creative Everyday". It's catchphrase is "Exercise a bit of creativity every day."
Their rules for the group are;
"ONE upload per day.
Each piece must not have taken longer than a day to make."
Now I'll be the last person to say Mike is at all talented, but he is an ideas man, and this was his idea. The group's oldest upload is on January 1st of 2009, and Mike's project was started OCTOBER OF 2007. Way to be on the ball, "Cool" guys. JUST SAYING. You suck.

My Main Man Mike Moore, Master (of web)
Mikey coded me up my portfolio I was sitting on, never knowing how it was going to get made. I figured I would ask the internet to make my pictures clickable. How much did I spend on college? That's right, none, I don't pay them.

Louis Theroux's naive charm, and need to view things one-dimensionally doesn't exactly work in North Philly. Sorry bud! They're just not that into you. Dig the cow, though. That shit is WILD!

Things I'm Into: Way Behind The Times Edition
So, I turn 24 today and I guess part of that is I'm old and I'm not into things right when they happen. I work 8 hours a day. I don't have time to read Brooklyn Vegan. So this is the things I like right now that are totally not new at all. I'm not gonna blow anyone's mind with this one.
Parts & Labor - Recievers
This album is one that Jim told me to listen a while ago and I pretty much said, "Yeah totally!" Then I pulled a Skinny Black and threw that non-sense right in the toilet. I went to college with Dan Deacon. No one tells me what kind of bleeps and bloops to listen to. So I listened to it this week and it is probably the best thing I've ever heard. You know how when a band makes an album and the last song is totally epic and sounds like a million things at once and you love it? Every fucking song on this album sounds like that. And the best part is, you can listen to the whole thing free on their website

Christian Bale Screaming at the DP of Terminator
This happened a while ago and it is hilarious. Batman is very serious about his job, which consists of running from robots while the director of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle says, "More explosions!" into a megaphone. I like how you can hear everyone being a total wuss and scared of him. The dude's some pussy actor, not Kimbo Slice. You can stand up for yourself.

Scud: The Whole Shebang
I loved this comic for forever and then it just stopped 10 years ago. So, imagine my excitement when they were finally finishing the story. You can imagine I was the first in line to get this comic. ...Nope! I totally didn't do that. Instead I sat on my butt for six months and thought about the day that I'd read it. Well, I bought it the other day and it's great. This paperback has all 24 issues of the series in one big book. It's awesome. I read through it and remembered why I spent my high school secretly reading comic books so my friends wouldn't call me a geek wiener.

Videogum
I stopped reading Videogum a while ago and then started reading it again the other day. That shit is hilarious. Gabe always makes me laugh and Lindsay always bums me out because she sucks at her job so much.

Ok. That's it.
